STEP IN. 2–5 MINUTES. STEP OUT FEELING SHARPER THAN YOU HAVE IN MONTHS.
You step into water at 3–10°C — wherever you're camped — and stay for a few minutes. Your body
responds with dopamine and norepinephrine, the chemicals that produce calm, focused energy for hours
afterward. Regular cold exposure is linked to reduced muscle soreness, better stress resilience, and
improved mood. What it actually feels like: Cold for the first 30 seconds, then fine. You step out alert, clearheaded, and light. Most people sleep better that same night. Time it takes: Around 11 minutes a week —
2–3 short sessions. Works at a campsite, a rest stop, or your own driveway. You don't need to be: an
athlete, fit, brave, or experienced. You just need to step in.
