Anything under 15°C works, with 3–10°C being the sweet spot — and on the road, that's usually just a case of how much servo ice you throw in. Studies show around 11 minutes a week is enough to get the benefit, so short 2–5 minute sessions a few times a week is all you need. Everyone's different, but this is the range that consistently shows results.
If you're using the Optimal Pod, we recommend changing your water roughly every two weeks of regular use — though most travellers find it's easier to just refresh it whenever you move to a new site or pass a tap, rather than watching the calendar. Hot weather, dust and heavier use can mean it needs changing sooner, so trust your judgement (and give it a sniff test) if you're unsure. If you're using an Optimal Tub with a chiller, the built-in filtration keeps water usable for around 30–40 days, which suits longer stays parked up in one spot.
Anywhere from Program 5 to 9, or up to 50°C, is the effective range — no need to push it hotter than that to get the benefit.
This varies from person to person, so listen to your body, take breaks, and keep water on hand throughout — especially in the heat of an Aussie summer. Most people get the benefit somewhere between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on your own heat tolerance.
